CSUSB offers an insurance plan that is specifically designed for international Students. Students under this plan receive special coverage that many US insurance companies can’t provide, including a $250,000 maximum lifetime aggregated benefit per injury or sickness, including repatriation and medical evacuation. Through this plan you are connected to a network of physicians and hospitals designed to provide the best care possible. Benefits are provided worldwide.
A $100 deductible is required per policy year for medical services. The deductible can be waived if the student first utilizes and is referred out by the University Student Health Center. If the Student Health Center is closed or emergency medical care is required, then the deductible is automatically waived.
You have the option of paying for your health insurance per quarter, or annually. Enrollment forms are available in our office and you can pay by check or money order to: DELOS Insurance Company, or you can pay online at www.renstudent.com/csusb. The International Center will release your hold once you have paid for your health insurance.
If you are traveling from your home country or from another campus within the U.S., we strongly advise you to seek travelers’ medical insurance to provide protection from the moment of your departure until your arrival at CSUSB. However, travelers’ insurance cannot be used as an alternative to health insurance. Our experience has shown that most plans available in your home countries for overseas students are not sufficient for the extremely high cost of health care in Southern California.
Every student is required to have a Measles/Mumps/Rubella (MMR) Vaccination within the last year. International students under 18 years of age are required to have their parents sign the Authorization for Medical Treatment form and submit it to the International Center. Students should take care of this requirement before registration. Please see the Student Health Center for more Information.
